Anthony’s Center for Independent Adult Opportunities is a nonprofit organization that promotes independent living, job training, job creation, and recreation in a safe environment where individuals with intellectual disABILITIES can live their best life.

Inspired by our founder’s son, Anthony, who has Kleefstra Syndrome, his mom, Lisa understands the importance of encouraging her son and others like him to live a more meaningful, inclusive, and independent life.

The goal of Anthony’s Center for Independent Adult Opportunities is to provide a home that supports adults with special needs with options for both being independent and included within the community. We will provide the residents of this independent living community opportunities to increase and enhance their living and decision-making skills, health and wellness management, safety, employment, and more!

The nonprofit is in the infancy stages, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t dreaming BIG!

If you would like to make a monetary gift or donation to our cause, please contact us for more information on how to do so.

About Our Founder

Lisa Ciao is the founder of the nonprofit Anthony’s Center for Independent Adult Opportunities and author of Anthony's Way, I AM ME!, a children's book that takes the reader on a journey through her son's life who has Kleefstra Syndrome and shares about his special needs and uniqueness.

She is also a co-author of the anthologies Dust to Salvation: Stories of Grace, Love, and Redemption in the Midst of Jesus Revealing Unexpected Miracles and Embracing the Journey: Inspiring Stories of Hope, Healing and Triumphing over Adversity.

Lisa shares in each book a short story about being a mom of four adult children. She candidly discusses how her life changed with her son Anthony’s diagnosis years ago and the everyday challenges they face, which led her to advocate for children and adults with special needs and intellectual disABILITIES supporting them to embrace their unique gifts.

When Lisa is not involved in the nonprofit you can find her managing her independently owned professional cleaning company, Maid For You, Inc., where she has provided exceptional service and value to her community over the last 20+ years.
